SEA LEVEL RISE
“Perigean Spring”
2020 | black porcelain, glaze, steel, wood, enamel | variable, 7.’ x 8’’x 3’ ea.
The Argo Project inspires this sculpture project. This international origination monitors oceanic conditions over the entire globe using a series of floating buoys that broadcast the data to scientists via satellite. The buoys in this installation stand as visual documentation of the extreme fluctuation in tide levels experienced during a Perigean Spring Tide (King Tide). A Perigean Spring Tide occurs when the moon is either new or full and closest to the Earth.
